2. Matters arising from minutes of last general meeting

8. The WI table-top sale has been rescheduled to 3rd October
10. AOB. The sixties/seventies evening was very successful with £244 raised towards the additional garden seat.

3. Finance update

Due to KB’s absence at the meeting, the financial information for 1st September provided by him was read out.

4. Update on building sub group and future plans

The group reported that the tongue and groove woodwork in the porch has been completed; the notice board for local advertising will be placed on the left hand side of the fire door going into the hall. The wall below the hatch inside the kitchen has some work yet to complete. It is planned to cement the Tidy Towns bins in place before winter. Materials for this to be ordered.

5. Requests to put before committee a) Volunteers

The Woodland Festival committee has asked for volunteers from CNC. LW asked the question, “What is CNC going to do on the day?” It was suggested that a money making venture similar to that organised by BF for the Round Table fun day when £80 was raised for EB might be set up. BF to be approached; LW to liaise and a gazebo or similar to be borrowed for the day.
b) Nicola Eyre

A request was made by Nicola (next door to EB) for the committee to consider a small portion of land to be made available next to her house from the grounds of EB for her to accommodate her wheely bins. It was pointed out that she is a good supporter of EB and it is appreciated that it is preferable for her wheely bins not to be by her front door but on this occasion her request was not granted by the committee. The building and land are leased to EB by Church in Wales in Cardiff.

6. 2nd Anniversary Celebrations - update

There will be approximately 35 members of Côr Meibion y Foel attending the concert; this will mean that the stage will need to be completely cleared for seating to be put out for the choir. It was agreed that Lucy Kelly, local schoolgirl, should be paid £35 for her fee. A charge of £4 for tickets with an extra charge of £1 for refreshments eg tea/coffee and bara brith during the interval. Raffle prizes to be collected.

During this discussion, it was agreed that the organ currently in the office and kindly donated by Mrs Walsh of Crud yr Awel, should be sent to Morgan Evans for putting in the auction to raise funds for EB. Also, the committee was informed that the piano, housed with RR, also a donation from another source, is now of limited use and should be disposed of.

7. Social Enterprise Awards

CJB is proposing to put CNC’s name forward to the Social Enterprise awards; if successful in the local round, there could be a chance of £1000 prize money. KR offered help in this.

8. Diary - September – to include cover for CJB

The current programme for activities at EB, for adults and children/young people was given out for committee members’ information. Key holders confirmed opening and closing arrangements during CJB’s absence.

9. Holiday Playscheme report

It was reported that the Holiday Playscheme was very successful and that children and adults had a good time. Due to new arrangements for funding via Cymorth grant, a cheque from EB is to be sent to Medrwn Mon for overpayment.

10. Indoor Bowls Tournament

Following the success of last year’s bowls competition, and requests from young people, it was agreed to hold a tournament this year to be held over four Tuesdays (one per month) with four teams competing. DC has agreed to oversee this and umpire on the days involved. Sandy Chadwick has kindly donated various trophies, shields and cups to be used for the prizes.

11. Computer sessions

CJB has been approached by various members of the public re computer sessions as before; Chris Owen, volunteer computer teacher, to be contacted with a view to setting up lessons.
