several laps in prestige car at Anglesey circuit.
AOB (iii) CJB awaiting address/post code for Ogwen Roofing

These minutes were accepted as a true record of the meeting of 16th June 2008.

3. Local Business Directory

Nicola Jones presented her ideas and plans for a local business directory. She is to write a letter with NH that will outline the plans for local advertising with costs and type of advert etc and these will be circulated to all households in Newborough requesting information from householders. The form will outline a) category of service b) payment (£10 annually) c) disclaimer – (these services are not recommended by EB; this is an independent service). It is envisaged that adverts will be on laminated A4 card and either placed in a folder or on noticeboards. As this has not been done in the village before, it is a question of ‘trial and error’. The committee will continue to be informed re progress. NJ to email CJB a draft letter for circulation and approval by committee prior to distribution via our usual ‘post’.

4. Finance

In KB’s absence CJB informed the committee that nothing has been heard from AONB re outstanding payment of the final monies. A cheque to be signed by either DH or TH.

5. Safety Fair

The Home Safety Fair is to be held at EB on 17th October 2008 from 9am – 4pm subject to proposed cost. It was agreed that for use of hall, kitchen, small room and stage the hire cost of £60 to be suggested to Local Health Board for approval. CJB to contact with hire charge.

6. Allotments

The County Council has been approached by EB on behalf of residents (6 enquiries in all) with a view to the provision of allotments on County Council ground. This is the currently overgrown land between Lon Twnti and Beach Road.

7. Dance Club

The money held by EB collected originally by members of the dance club for costumes etc was handed over to DH for distribution to the members; £35.05 in total.

8. Cylch ti a fi and Flying Start

A meeting was held on Monday 7th July for discussion as to how the Parent/Toddler group is to continue in September without paid support due to end of BBC Children in Need funding.

It was agreed that the group should be renamed ‘Babonod Rhosyr’ and will fundamentally be organised similarly to that of Cylch. There are food handling issues to be addressed and First Aid. Louise has offered to undertake a recognised First Aid qualification; Marie to follow this up. Increased garbage might be an issue too if food preparation is to be more than toast or fruit as currently.

CJB reported that Gareth Hughes, Manager, Flying Start has confirmed that the Health Visitors’ sessions on Wednesday mornings will continue at EB. Parenting courses will also take place at EB when programmes have been organised by the newly appointed HVs to FS.

9. Bingo

LJ reported that after week three of the cash bingo sessions held at EB on Sunday evenings there is profit and the books have been paid for. This looks to be not only a good ‘earner’ but a ‘get together’of different age groups from the village and beyond.

10. Garden

It was agreed that 27th September to be the date on which the opening of the garden and celebration of EB’s first year to take place. CJB to contact Delyth Owen for her input on opening ceremony etc due to her experience with Llanfaelog Community Garden. Jamie Cunliffe also to be informed.

11. Local Health Board Meeting

A meeting to discuss issues of living in Anglesey and its impact on health to be held on Tuesday 15th July at Holyhead to be attended by DH, BH, LJ, LW and CJB.

12. Watkin Jones Funding Bid

LW reported that WJ do not supply ‘in house’ slate signage. It was suggested that Siobhan Mitchell be approached re combination of views of local area/signage as a commission if she is interested and provide a quote. Name of local artist who decorated slate fencing at Pen Lon Car Park to be followed up.

13. Holiday Playscheme Volunteers

The programme for the playscheme was shown to the committee and names of volunteers for various activities were requested. DH to accompany trip to Wylfa. LH’s name also put forward.

14. AOB

(i) BF suggested ‘football cards’ for fund raising – this is being done at Bingo sessions

(ii) A trial ‘Yoga’ session for 4 weeks is to start on Friday 3rd October 2008 by Jane Rowlands

(iii) NH suggested that Family Film club should be restarted in Sept/Oct possibly as a matinee or on a Saturday evening. Joanne Dean to help. Adult film sessions were also discussed.
