| Four panellists from different sectors were involved in the debate which
was chaired by local journalist and broadcaster, Vaughan Hughes.
Members of the panel included: Einir Young, Head of Sustainable Development at Bangor University;
During the event, attendees were invited to ask questions to panel members, and also given a chance to respond to the answers. There was no shortage of questions from the audience, resulting in a lively debate. Attendees were also given interactive voting pads to record their responses to key questions. Results of group vote indicated that 96 per cent of people indicated they would vote if there was a referendum on law-making powers. Over 80 per cent of people indicated that they were in favour of further law making powers for the National Assembly, rather than keeping the current situation. Welcoming over 70 attendees to the debate to Newborough’s newly refurbished Youth Centre, Eglws Bach Community Hall, was local Councillor Peter Rogers. A team of staff and Members of the Convention’s Executive Committee mingled with guests over a cup of tea following the event. This event was the sixth in a series of 22 public meetings to be held across Wales aiming to engage with the Welsh public. See 'Upcoming events' for a full list. The next ‘Question Time’ event will take place in Aberystwyth on 4th March at the The National Library of Wales. |

In spite of controversy regarding the choice of Niwbwrch as the venue for the "All Wales Convention" meeting in Ynys Mon, a capacity crowd enjoyed a lively question and answer session. The Committee of Criw Niwbwrch Cyf wishes to thanks all who took part including the Panel, residents of Ynys Mon and also Quadrant Media for organising the event. We hope that all the residents of Ynys Mon have seen that Niwbwrch and district is not the "back neck of Anglesey" (quotation re. Cllr John Chorlton) but a vibrant and forward looking community.
