The Mail 10th November 2010. Llanddwyn and Newborough WI met on Wednesday, November 3rd in Eglwys Bach for its regular monthly meeting. There was an excellent turnout with apologies only from Pauline and Myra. Best wishes go to them both for better health in their families. Proceedings started with a sociable and enjoyable fish and chip supper, a very good quality meal from the local chippy. Then the meeting got under way with the reading of the county newsletter, with attention being drawn to particularly relevant events. A review was given of events since the October meeting, including the very successful children’s Halloween party, which had been scheduled as part of a week of activities over half term celebrating the third anniversary of Eglwys Bach. There followed discussion of events planned for December and of programme planning for 2011. The raffle was won by Linda and Glenys. The annual meeting followed and was briskly dealt with. The President, Secretary and Treasurer were all willing to stand for a second term and Chris Yearsley and Jos Brown jointly took over from Sandy as programme secretary. Audrey Jones, the Federation chairperson, who attended in an advisory capacity, praised the group for its increased membership and healthy finances. She advised the group that it ought to have a vice-president, and Sandy kindly offered to stand, as no-one else felt free to do so. The advisor then recapped the newsletter for those who had not heard it the first time, and a long meeting closed with a welcome cup of tea. The next meeting will be on the December 1st at 7.30 pm at Eglwys Bach. The speaker will be Peter Corbett on “Archaeology finds” – metal detecting and all are welcome.

3rd November 2010. Eglwys Bach Community Hall
Events held last week to celebrate the third anniversary of the opening of Eglwys Bach, catered for all age groups in Newborough and district and got off to a great start with art and craft activities for children. They made Hallowe'en fun items guided by Alison Chapman with funding from Cymorth Free Access Play Grant administered by Medrwn Mon. Over 30 children attended who really enjoyed themselves and produced spooky decorations that looked fabulous in the Community Hall. Only a handful of secondary age students came to the disco put on for their age group on Friday evening, but those who did attend, enjoyed the hot dogs, drinks and music on offer. The Hallowe'en Teaparty organised by Llanddwyn, Newborough WI was a good opportunity for lots of local families to come together and spend a happy couple of hours taking part in fun activities. The Hallowe'en costumes were delightful ( and scary!) and the afternoon wound up with the raffle where a magnificent number of prizes kept everyone hopeful of winning. The Hallowe'en Supper Party rounded off the celebrations when adults enjoyed a meal of lobscows followed by apple pie and cream, a general quiz and dancing to Richard's disco music. Many thanks to all the helpers who made the week's events possible, to all those who donated items for prizes, to those who were unable to attend but sent money donations, to Bradleys Deli in Benllech for the amazing Hallowe'en cake won by Courtney and to Richard who donated his disco fees towards the "Curtain Fund" set up by Criw Niwbwrch Cyf to raise money for new stage curtains.
